Shaykh Umar Futi Tall (R.) Says:
“The disinterest (zuhd) of the perfect walis, is not to disengage themselves completely from worldly affairs rather it is to free their heart (qalb) from worldly affairs while still benefiting from its wealth”
Omar Saidou Tall born in Futa Tooro, present-day Senegal. His full name is Hadji Oumarûl Foutiyou Tall (ʿUmar ibn Saʿīd al-Fūtī Ṭaʿl, Arabic: حاج عمر بن سعيد الفوتي طعل, c. 1794 – 1864 CE).
In the 19th century, Alhajj Umar Tall emerged as a highly respected figure, known for his roles as a political leader, Islamic scholar, and military commander. Following his pilgrimage to Makkah in 1828, he returned with the prestigious title of Alhajj and became involved with the Tijaniyya Sufi brotherhood, eventually assuming the position of Khalifa in Sudan. His influence extended over a vast territory, encompassing regions that are now part of Guinea, Senegal, and Mali.
