Amir Khusrau Says:

“Khusrau darya prem ka, ulti wa ki dhaar,
Jo utra so doob gaya, jo dooba so paar.

English Translation.

Oh Khusrau, the river of love
Runs in strange directions.
One who jumps into it drowns,
And one who drowns, gets across.”

Amir Khusrau (R.), whose full name was Abu’l Hasan Yamīn ud-Dīn Khusrau (R.), made a significant impact on the cultural history of the Indian subcontinent during the reign of the Delhi Sultanate.

He was a celebrated figure known for his roles as a Sufi singer, musician, poet, and scholar.

Khusrau was deeply immersed in mysticism and was a spiritual disciple of Hazrath Nizamuddin Auliya (R.) in Delhi, India.

He was renowned for his poetry in Persian and Hindavi and is often credited with the creation of the Ḳhāliq Bārī, a vocabulary in verse encompassing Arabic, Persian, and Hindavi terms. Known as the “voice of India” or “Parrot of India” (Tuti-e-Hind), Khusrau is also hailed as the “father of Urdu literature.”
