To honor Hazrat Ganj Bukhsh Hujwiri (R.)’s URS Mobarak, today, August 26 is a public holiday in Lahore, declared by the local government of Punjab. It is a 3 days program and today is the last day.
This holiday impact all government offices in Lahore, except for the Punjab Civil Secretariat, its Attached Departments, and Regional Offices. In addition, educational institutions, district offices, and the deputy commissioner’s office will also be closed on August 26.
Data Ganj Bakhsh (R.) was born on 990CE, his real name was Abul Hassan Ali Ibn usman but in shortly people called him abul Hassan. His father name was Usman Ali Ibne Ali. He belong from hasni syed family and if we read about the history of his family so we know that, his family related with Imam Hazarat Ali (A.)’s family.
The URS celebrations for Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh Ali Hajveri (RA) is taking place from August 24 to 26. The Auqaf Department has allocated Rs13.5 million for langar (free communal meal) and various other events, emphasizing the importance of the celebrations. The Auqaf Secretary highlighted the extensive preparations for the Urs, which will officially start at Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh’s shrine on August 24 and will be inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar.
Special security measures, such as the installation of 144 CCTV cameras, a central control room, and 18 LCD screens, have been put in place to ensure the safety of all attendees during these festivities.
