Renowned Kashmiri poet and literary scholar Professor Shafi Shauq presented his three latest works at a grand event hosted at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. The newly released books, Nund, Lal, and Kashmiri Sufi Poetry, are written in the Kashmiri language, adding to Professor Shauq’s extensive literary repertoire.
Published by Ali Mohammad and Sons, a prominent Srinagar-based publishing house, these works shed light on Professor Shauq’s deep connection with the literary and cultural heritage of Kashmir. With over forty-five books to his name, Professor Shauq has established himself as a significant figure in Kashmiri literature, earning accolades such as the Sahitya Akademi Award.
The launch event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests including Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Managing Director of Ali Mohammad and Sons; his brother Mir Zaffar; Sajjad Haider, Editor of Kashmir Observer; Farooq Ashai, a noted social activist and former Public Relations Officer of J&K Bank; and Mukhtar Ahamed, a well-known writer. Their attendance underscored the significance of the occasion, honoring Professor Shauq’s tireless efforts to preserve and promote Kashmiri culture and literature.
The event was a testament to the rich literary traditions of Kashmir and Professor Shauq’s pivotal role in keeping these traditions alive through his scholarly work.
