The Bangladeshi Sufi community, yesterday raised their voice against  religious extremist groups. They seriously condemned their nationwide brutal attacks on holy shrines and Khanqahs.

Sufi Oikya Parishad, organized a human chain in front of the Chittagong Press Club yesterday at 4 pm to protest the attack on various shrines and religious institutions.

The coordinators of Chittagong Sufi Oikya Parishad presented a statement containing 4 points of demand to the chief adviser and advisers of the interim government. The demands are:

  1. To stop attacks on religious institutions and Sufi shrines, mosques.
  2. Bring the responsible terrorists under a judicial trial.
  3. Ensure an exemplary punishment for those who forcibly evicted the imams and muezzins of various mosques to implement their extremist ideology.
  4. Ensure overall security measures for all places of worship. and ensure the arrest and punishment of attackers.

Shahzada Syed Abul Fazal Saifullah Sultan Puri, Shahzada Syed Ashekur Rahman Hafez Nagri, Shahzada Syed Ahmadul Haq Maizvanderi, Shahzada Syed Fakhrul Islam Rizvi, Shahzada Syed Abul Mostafa Hujjatul Muballig organized this protest movement where many Pirzadas of various Darbars took part willfully. Followers of different Sufi Center, Darbar and Khankah of Chittagong came and presented the mentioned demands to the government.

The gathering was attended by a huge number of Sufi devotees and followers from across the country. Among them the famous Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif, Traditional Chattogram Darbar Sharif, Satgachia Darbar Sharif, Ahla Durbar Sharif, Hafez Nagar Darbar Sharif, Gomdandi Darbar Sharif, Sukhchhari Darbar Sharif, Amir Bhandar Darbar Sharif, Nuria Bishu Darbar Sharif, Hawla Puri Darbar Sharif, Charandeep Darbar Sharif, Farhadabad Darbar Sharif, Syed Vandar Darbar Sharif, Mansoorabad Rahmaniya Darbar Sharif, Khair Vandar Darbar Sharif, Ayakub Vandar Darbar Sharif, East Baralia Darbar Sharif, Alamin Hashemiya Darbar Sharif, Darbar-e Baria are particularly notable.

In Bangladesh, a dictator has been overthrown in a student uprising in the last few days. An interim government has formed, headed by the world famous Nobel laureate Professor Dr. Mohammed Younus. With him, two student leaders are leading the country among 16 other honorable advisors.

Though the law and order situation has not been reformed yet in the proper state, doubtlessly, people’s hopes have increased.

In the counterpart, Religious extremist groups attacked and set fire to shrines and Khanqahs in different districts including Chittagong, Chandpur, Rangpur and Dhaka. They also attacked the houses of some scholars, nationwide.

Extremists also attacked some temples of Sanatan Dharma (Hindu), especially of the minority citizens of Bangladesh.

It cannot be a tolarateable activity of an independent state. Now the question arises, what are they trying to implement being involved in such extremist attacks?

Are they aimed to drive the country into a civil war or religious riot?

Or are they working as an agent of Mossad of Israel? Do they want to destabilize Bangladesh?

Leading representatives of different Sufi Centers addressed the occasion. They mentioned in their speach:

“We strongly condemn and protest this heinous attack. Simultaneously, we strongly demand the interim government to investigate the video footage of the attacks and bring the terrorists under exemplary punishment.”

“There is no place for sectarian discrimination in this independent Bangladesh. People of all the Castes, religions, castes, have freedom of expression. No one can stop them, and can not dare to stop them from performing their religious rituals,” they also mentioned.

One’s right is his Religion.

Country belongs to everyone.

Uttering the slogan, Some of them said, So, in the independent Bangladesh, every citizen will enjoy his fundamental rights constitutionally.

This is the Bangladesh of Hazrat Shahjalal (R.), Shah Amanat (R.), Shah Paran (R.) and Gausul Azam Maizvanderi (R.). Historically, 360 Sufi Saints’ holy land is our Bangladesh. There the mosque started from the khanqah/shrine. If the Sufi Muslims of this country behave vindictively, they will soon get their answer. But Sufis are not to be encountered as extremist or terrorist. They practice peace in their daily life. They teach and lead their community, towards a peaceful society, establishing religious harmony.

Build a livelihood, based on the ideals of the beloved Prophet (PBUH) and the Qur’an-Sunnah. Academically, review the fundamentals of Islam, Farewell Hajj, Ohud, Badr, Sifin and Karbala. Highlight the human rights of all regardless of caste, creed, caste, religion, etc. according to the Medina Charter.

The protestors warn the Kharijites, Salafis and Wahhabis saying, let you follow your Shaykh’s ideology. It’s OK for you but don’t dare to impose your ideology on others. You don’t have such a right. Don’t overdo it with religion. Overdoing things can not bring good outcomes.

Beside this long Human chain and protest march, already held in Chittagong yesterday in protest of the attacks, some other movements are going to take place in the country.

Following this, a huge protest rally is going to take place in the heart of Dhaka under the banner of Ahle Sunnat organization of Sufi ideology, very soon.
