Minorities of Bangladesh and the Sufi peace-loving people are in critical crisis Due to the crisis of political leadership and the collapse of the state security system.
If it continues in this way, there may be a series of brutal attacks on Sufi as well as minorities in Muslim-dominated Bangladesh. Very easily, like in Afghanistan, Sufi and minorities may be persecuted, crushed. Which is by no means desirable.
When the Hasina government used force in the quota movement of students, oppression descended on the innocent students who were agitating. Innocent protesting students started to die brutally at the hands of government party student organizations and law enforcement agencies. In protest of this, people from all parts of the society including their teachers, parents came down to the streets one by one beside the students.
The army refused to fire on them despite orders from the head of government. They refused as a matter of principle to stand in front of the students and open fire.
Meanwhile, this movement to realize the demands of the students has turned into a one-phase movement to bring down the government. This is like a coup. When they began to march towards the Prime Minister’s residence, the newly elected Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina failed to control the situation.
Hasina (76), one of two women to serve as prime minister of Bangladesh, resigned on Monday and fled out of the country.
Popular news media The Daily Star reported, “Bangladesh’s iron lady of 15 years bowed out to a people’s uprising yesterday. Serving as the prime minister since 2009, Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign and flee the country as hundreds of thousands marched towards Dhaka defying a curfew amid a continual morning drizzle.”
The massive anti-Hasina protests began last month and culminated in her ouster on August 5.
After this, raised the necessity of new political polarization. First, the army chief addressed the nation with responsibility. He declared, the next activities will be announced after meeting with the President and consulting him. People get a hopeful light in his speech. The students demanded the formation of a new government soon. Everything was going well.
But the first exception came when the army chief went to meet the president to decide what to do next. At that time, representatives of various political organizations and professional organizations including student representatives were invited to a meeting with him.
In that meeting, there were representatives of some political parties including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, religious-based political party (Known as Qaumi organization), but no organizational representative of Islamic Sunni movement was seen in that meeting. Maybe they weren’t called.
Meanwhile, a kind of unrest started in the country that night. The law and order system collapsed. Attacks and looting began in the houses and various institutions of the ministers and leaders of Bangladesh Awami League, the political party led by the recently ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Many police stations in the country were also set on fire and weapons were stolen.
At this time, there were tragic incidents of attacks and burn-downs in some of the religious temples in the country.
Some miscreants started taking advantage of such chaotic situations. Their target appears to be the religious establishment of the peace-loving Sufi group. They attacked the shrine and the adjoining Sufi Center (Darbar Sharif). Sufi tomb (Majar) was also revealed to have been demolished with a hammer and set on fire.
Some such incidents have gone viral on social media in several parts of the country. As a result, along with the Sufi, the general peace-loving people began to raise their voices against it. They share, like and comment on the issues on social media and present them to the conscience of the nation.
It is being clear, from the commentaries and comments of their protests, some of the small Islamic militant groups that, have become weak, under the political pressure of the previous government, are now encouraging or directly leading this crucial attack. This situation is contrary to the student’s demand as well as the formation of new Bangladesh.
Ordinary students brought their demands and successfully led the government to fall. Although they do not have any organization, they have proved their ability to succeed in this difficult task by holding the hands of some coordinators. As a result, the huge peace-loving people of Bangladesh are now looking at them.
It is expected that they will give due attention to the issue of minorities as well as the issue of peaceful Sufi people.
While writing this, Mohammad Younus arrived Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 2:15pm. He came returned from olympic inagauration ceremony took place in Pairs. The interim government of Bangladesh, headed by Nobel Laureate Prof Dr Mohammad Yunus is scheduled to take oath at 8pm tonight.
