A mureed of Sheikh Hisam Kabbani, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the story bellow:
“When we met Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, we simply lost our minds. He smiled and said, ‘No my child, you haven’t met him yet, hold my hand and follow me.’ He took us to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim ق and we started to tremble. How can someone be so small, so sweet, yet so godly at the same time? You feel such hope and fear at the same moment, as if he’s looking at you, but in reality he’s reading you like an open book.
“And inside you, thirty trillion cells are screaming, ‘Ya Sayyidi, I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life! Read me, love me, fix me: I’m at your disposal’
“You’re in Cyprus, yet he took the ground beneath your feet and you felt the presence of Madina, Damascus, Istanbul, Konya, Bukhara, Samarkand, Baghdad, Ajmeer, Delhi, Lahore, and so many other places within a split second. You didn’t imagine it! Indeed, you went there, and he even made you smell the holy grounds, and cleaned you inside and out.
“Then we looked back at #ShaykhHisham, but we couldn’t see him anymore. Where he had stood, we saw Grandshaykh AbdAllah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani ق. He said nothing at all to us as a greeting of any sort. He raised his hands up in a dua. It was so intense, so animated, we didn’t even want to blink, in case we miss a moment and miss someone special! I can’t tell you who came and who went, whom we saw from a distance and whom we didn’t. There were too many AwliyaAllah.
“What we can tell you is this: in the end we were exactly at the same spot from where we began. It was Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, Qutb al-Mutasarrif right in front of us as if we had never left that initial moment. He was holding our hands, surrounded by mureeds from every direction, the way Kaaba is surrounded by Hajjis.”
