Nollywood upcoming movie has sparked controversy due to a scene featuring actress Nancy Isime wearing Islamic attire while brandishing weapons to commit crimes. This news was brought to light by the anti-Islam Google alert and reported by online media outlets such as theguildng.com and cair.com.
Despite attempts by the movie producers to downplay the negative impact on the religion, numerous Muslims have expressed their opposition to the movie, urging the Federal Government to ban it from all streaming platforms in the country.
The Muslims through the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) highlighted that the movie portrays Muslim women in hijab and other Islamic attire committing crimes, thereby perpetuating negative stereotypes and inciting public sentiment against them. The depiction of women in purdah wielding dangerous weapons and being involved in criminal activities may lead to stigmatization and prejudice against Muslim girls and women practicing their religious beliefs across the nation.
Prof. Ishaq Akintola, the Executive Director of MURIC, termed the movie as satanic, repugnant, and provocative, further fueling the demands for its ban.
