The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) has cautioned that the global AIDS response is at a critical juncture between success and failure. UNAIDS published its report, The Urgency of Now: AIDS at a crossroads, at an event in Munich on Monday.

The report emphasizes that the vital in achieving the global goal of ending HIV by 2030 are international solidarity, investment in healthcare, equal access to services, technological advancement, eradication of discriminatory legislation, and addressing social stigma. This commitment is embedded in the Sustainable Development Goals.

The report identifies a critical need for world leaders to prioritize efforts and urgency to expedite prevention and dismantle barriers that hinder people, especially marginalized individuals, from accessing HIV prevention and treatment services.

Faith-based organizations have played a crucial role in tackling important issues and advocating for positive transformations, especially in the most economically disadvantaged nations.

The report highlights the importance of mutual understanding between the two faiths for social progress.
