Self-criticism leads to self-purification: USF Speakers

Like every year, the program 21st ‘Mahatma Sommelon-2024’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm, also known as the Universal Sufi Festival (USF), in English terms, since 2003.

The Universal Sufi Festival (USF) was held at Chattogram Press Club’s Bangabandhu Hall on Thursday (March 21) under the initiative of Chittagong Darbar Sharif. SajjadaNshin Sufi Syed Osman Quader Maizbhandari of Gausia Amin Manzil of Maizbhandar was the Shaykhul Majlish (Chief Guest) in the main segment, the Symposium. “Enlightened Souls’ Introspective Utterance”, was its motto.

The symposium was held under the chairmanship of Allama Sufi Syed Jafar Sadek Shah, the initiator of the Universal Sufi Festival (USF). He is also the Grand Shaykh of Rahe Vander Silsila. By afternoon, the guests inaugurated the 21st Mahatma Conference by blowing balloons in the press club premises. Later discussion meeting and 12th Ennoble Award was handed over in Bangabandhu Hall.

This time the 12th Rahe Vander Ennoble Award distributed in 9 categories as follows:

Shah Sufi Syed Dalilur Rahman Rajapuri, the SajjadaNashin of Comilla Rajaparu Darbar Sharif in Sufi Shaykh category, 

Professor Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, the former vice-chancellor of Chittagong University as an Educationalist, 

Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, an Ex-City Mayor as a Social Worker,

Maulana Gholama Muhammad Golam Sirazi, the Principal of Maizvander Rahmania Moiniya Darse Nezami Madrasa in Aleme Tariqat Category (Religious Scholar),

Hakeem Mawlana Mohammad Iqbal Yusuf, the General Secretary of Sufism Research and Human Welfare Centre in Author and Researcher category,

Abdul Halim Dobash, the President of Bodhan Abritti (Recitation) Parishad in Freedom Fighter Category (Liberation War),

Dr. Shimanto Waddadar, the Consultant of Neurology Department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital in Health Service. 

Abdul Mannan Qawwal, a famous Maizvandari Sufi Singer in Sufi  artist category, 

Abu Taher Chishti, a musician and composer, was awarded in the Sufi Lyricist category.

Shahjada Syed Gholam Morshed Maizbhandari, Shahzada Syed Noor Hossain Maizbhandari, Shahzada Syed Najibullah Maizbhandari, Shahzada Syed Maruf bin Qader Maizbhandari were the honored guests in the symposium organized by the Universal Sufi Festival Organizing Committee. 

Aside, Honorable guests were Pirshahzada Syed Naemul Quduch Akbari, Shahsufi Syed Akhtar Kamal Shah, Syed Nazrul Islam Khitapchari, Syed Mofakkerul Islam Mirzapuri, Syed Golam Mawla, Syed Faridul Anwar, Syed Forkanul Haque Amiri, columnist and writer. Masum Chowdhury and many others attended the occasion.

While organizing committee’s General Secretary Shahjada Syed Mohammed Shaiful Alam Naidu anchoring the program, the speakers said that criticizing others is one of the evil natures of human beings. Many people spend a large part of the day preoccupied with who did what and where. But the criticism of others, never considered as a work. So you have to criticize yourself. Only then can you become an enlightened human being, by correcting and purifying your own soul.
