A discussion meeting under the ‘Economic Reintegration of Drugs Recoveries’ project, under the management of non-governmental development organization Caritas Chittagong region took place.
The meeting was held at the organization’s regional office on February 6 (Tuesday) with representatives from different levels of society regarding the social and economic rehabilitation of recovering drug addicts.
The meeting focused on what to do to bring recovering drug addicts back among the society’s mainstream. Distinguished participants said, there is no alternative to taking concerted measures to prevent drugs and social rehabilitation of returnees. In this case, everyone needs to play a role from their own position. If no initiative is taken now, a large part of the population of the country will fall into the grip of drugs.
Caritas Chittagong Region Regional Director Marcel Ratan Guda presided over the meeting and former City Mayor Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury attended as the Chief Guest. The deputy director of Narcotics Control Department Mukul Jyoti Chakma, Officer of National Youth Development Department Jahan Uddin and CEO of Ilma Jasmine Sultana Paru was present among Key speakers.
Convener of Project, Chowkbazar Counseling Center Advisory Committee Nazim Uddin, World Sufi Media Dot Com’s Chief coordinator & Chittagong Darbar Sharif Representative Shah Midu, BHRF Secretary General Adv. Zia Habib Ahsan, SDG Youth Forum President Noman Ullah Bahar, Clinical Psychologist (OCC) Dharmendra Roy, Alo Drug Treatment Center Council Shah Zaman were also present among special guests.
Project Monitoring and Job Placement Officer Mohammad Shahriar Hossain Shimul moderated the meeting. Project Monitoring and Reporting Officer Mohammad Abdul Jalil gave a power play presentation.
Apart from Project Accounts and Logistics Officer MKM Iqbal Hossain, Pilton Talukdar, Sumita Bhattacharya, Tania Akhtar, Romel Pinaru were present among the project workers.
