Sayyiduna Abu Bakr & Wife’s Relation, Families’ Model

On the night of Hijrah, he took 40,000 dirhams with him for this religion. He left literally nothing. He took everything with him and left for the sake of this Din. He left his parents, his wife and his children including his girl at home on that night. He freed slave after slave with his own money. He spent all of his wealth in the way of Allah. He fed the poor. He would hardly sleep at night because he’d be serving the weak. He travelled from one expedition to another for years.

When the Prophet ﷺ asked for sadaqah, what did he do? He cleared everything from his home until he only had one simple piece of clothing left on his body. That is seriously no joke !

His wife never complained. She never got upset. She never got angry with little food. She never got angry with not seeing him. She did not complain about the distance and the little she spoke to him. From extreme affluence to absolutely nothing in the home within a single night and she never had the slightest pain in her heart.

She nurtured the likes of Sayyidah ‘A’isha. If our spouse were to do that tomorrow for the religion, could we handle it? If kitchens and fridges were empty, could we survive? Or would we tell him to get out and never come back?

A man as great as Sayyiduna Abu Bakr could only have had a wife as great as Umm Ruman. رضي الله عنهم
