It is a remarkable real story of the time when Hajrath Umar ibn al-Khattab had been ruling the Muslim Ummah.
He was the 3rd supreme religious and political leader of the Islamic state known as Caliphate. In fact, he was one of the political successors to our beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallahu Alaihi Wa-Sallam.
He, the great companion of the Prophet Muhammad, entered Jerusalem when the time of prayer had arrived. The Christian leadership in Jerusalem requested that, Umar offer his prayers in their Church, due to their concern that Umar may miss his prayers.
Umar, May Allah be pleased with Him, with great wisdom and insight respectively refused, for the sole reason that he did not want Muslims generations who would come after him to convert the Church in to a Mosque/Shrine as an excuse that Umar had once prayed there.
He prayed nearby, and the place where he did is now called, Masjid Umar ibn al-Khattab’ Islam guarantees the rights of minority religious groups. And protects their right to worship in freedom, safety and security.
